Aspidistra, painted by Samuel John Peploe (1927), oil on canvas, 71.2X51.5cm. Various neutral tones and shades of green, brown and white are used in this piece. Lines are barely visible but the shapes are made clear through the use of shading and angles. However, the shadow at the bottom right of the painting doesn't look as if it fits the size and shape of the plant very well.
