French Country Style from the Foot of the Rockies: It All Started with a French Tablecloth

It All Started with a French Tablecloth

I've wanted a colorful French tablecloth for years so when I spotted this one at a recent street market, I had to have it. The blue and yellow colors gave the patio that warm ambiance of Provence and it was the perfect size for my bistro table in "Cafe Bleu." With olives on the print, the fabric is coated with something that resists stains and dirt. Love that! The tablecloth inspired me to spruce up this corner of the garden. Although it's a bit early to plant annuals, many of my perennials…

French Country Patio Bringing French Country Home

Architectural Salvage in the Garden

Recently, I wrote a post about using Architectural Salvage in the home. As I was putting it together, I realized I had enough architectural pieces in the garden and on the patio to write a separate post. As they do inside your home, salvaged pieces add texture, warmth and a sense of history to your garden and patio. This widow's walk railing evokes stories of a woman watching the harbor for her husband's return from atop her house. One of my favorite salvaged pieces is this rusty metal arch…

Escape to a French Garden

Like many parts of the country, we are finally getting some warm, dry weather. Lilac bushes are blooming, flowers are popping, and we've brought the patio cushions outside to relax. Please take a moment from your busy day and escape to my French garden. I'm drawn to this little corner of my garden where I can dream and plan my next step in the garden. This salvaged brick path winds through the garden, beckoning me to enter "Cafe Bleu." Come on in and join me. Cafe Bleu is open. We all crave…

Just when I thought summer was over, a new flush of late-blooming flowers burst upon the scene in my French Country garden.

Looking for Some Colorful Inspiration?

Welcome back to my blog. Today we're visiting Holland to see the bulbs in bloom. OK, maybe not Holland but that's what it seemed like. Actually it's right here in Denver, Colorado. We're going to the Denver Botanic Gardens to see more than 14,000 bulbs in bloom winding through 24 acres of this urban oasis. Ready for some colorful inspiration? How about these tulips that just go on forever? I love the reflection in this pond. Pink and purple is one of my favorite color combinations. So…

French Country Style from the Foot of the Rockies: Snapshot Garden Tour

Architectural Salvage in the Garden

Hello my Friends! Just a little snapshot tour of my early summer garden. This rosebush has never had this many blooms . . . must be all the rain we had in the spring. This is a quickie tour because I'm so focused on our new old mountain cabin. If you missed last week's post, you can read about my dream coming true HERE. The garden is really greening up. It won't be long til the hollyhocks are blooming around this old wheelbarrow. Our closing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2 so wish me luck…
