Battle of Castricum, 6 October 1799. I'm not 100% sure, but I think this may refer to the battle during the Helder campaign in which Lord Chatham was struck by a spent ball (definitely 6 October, but I've seen it recorded as the battle of egmont-op-zee or the battle of Beverwijk-- two different places!). Probably the closest Pitt the Younger got to becoming 3rd Earl of Chatham. ..

Beach at Castricum, Holland. Wow, I can see why everyone was talking about those big sandhills rising off the beach now.

Polders (sand dunes) at Egmont aan Zee (18th century name Egmont op Zee). The battle of Alkmaar on 2 October 1799 was partially fought amongst these sandhills. It was impossible to form the British regiments up in the regular way and the casualties were correspondingly high

1730 drawing of the centre of Schagerbrug, which for much of the 1799 Helder campaign was the Allied army's HQ (although the British spelled it, without exception, either Schagenbrug or Schagen Brug).
