ART THERAPY + HAPPINESS PROJECT - Trauma-Informed Practices and Expressive Arts Therapy Institute

THE ART [THERAPY] + HAPPINESS PROJECT is a unique learning opportunity inspired by art therapy and positive psychology and five principles: creativity, collaboration, connection, compassion and courage.

Art Therapy: Sharing Directives: Keeper Boxes- places to store your negative emotions and memories rather than keeping them inside of you.

I love this because it causes the artist to write out their feelings and then release them to a safe space. Also they can each decorate the outside to represent who they are.

Before and After - To increase client’s awareness of self-care during the healing process, and increase client's motivation to follow through with self-care behaviors

Art Therapy: Sharing Directives: Before and After Collages - Representations of crisis vs. self care/coping

Art Therapy Directive Task - Dealing with Emotions: Think of different emotions that you commonly experience, both positive and negative, and write each one at the top of a piece of paper and create images for each one.

Feelings check in book. Collage on paint samples. This is a spin off of a project @Cathy Malchiodi | Art Therapy introduced in a class. I'm using this in my internship at a high school. Have the students pick a paint color which matches how they are feeling and then decorate it. Sometimes I add an activity to it, such as, write a poem or find a photo to go along with the mood. They get really into it!

this is genius - love it! I'd live to make some of these and leave them around the city in hiding places so that those who need the message might find them
