Marc Chagall

Marc Chagall He was born in Belarus (then Russia), in 1887 – Chagall was a Modernist and a world respected Jewish artist. He also designed stained glass for Reims cathedral, and memorial ceilings. He was a print maker and worked in many different mediums.

Born in Russia, Chagall moved to France in 1910 and became a prominent figure within the so-called Ecole de Paris. Later he spent time in the United States and the Middle East, travels which reaffirmed his self-image as an archetypal "wandering Jew."
