Galleys were a type of warship that reigned supreme as a vessel used for war & piracy in the 16th century. These ships were used by various naval powers including Greeks, Phoenicians, & Romans and were used to carry various weapons such as rams, catapults, & cannons, and also relied on their huge crew on the ship. This vessel was highly maneuverable, focused on speed under the oars and independent on winds by being rowed.
