Queen Mavia was probably originally a warrior-queen who ruled over  the Bedouin Saracens, a confederation of semi-nomadic tribes in southern Syria, during the fourth century. She led troops against Rome eventually making a treaty on conditions she desired. Later she was called upon by Rome for assistance.
