Hairspray is one of the best musicals I have seen on the west end.

I'm so tempted to sing "Good Morning, Baltimore" while riding to work every day. but I don't because I haven't yet figured out how to sing "Austin" with three syllables.

"Hairspray" 1988. Love it! "Do chores? Not Tracy Turnblad. She's too busy ratting her hair and doing the ubangi stomp." "They put me in special ed cuz of my hair!" "I'm a intergrationist! We SHALL overcome someday!"

Baltimore, 1962. Ample, energetic teen Tracy Turnblad (Ricki Lake) wants nothing…

MUSICALS: HAIRSPRAY Directed by John Waters. With Sonny Bono, Ruth Brown, Divine, Deborah Harry. A 'pleasantly plump' teenager teaches 1962 Baltimore a thing or two about integration after landing a spot on a local TV dance show.
