The Saint Peter in-Gallicantu Church is built on Mount Zion. According to tradition, this was the location of high priest Caiaphas's palace and where Jesus was tried by the Sanhedrin. Its name is given after the story of Peter's triple denial of Christ and the cock crowing twice. Archaeologists are divided about this being the site of the house of Caiaphas. Some favor the site at the Armenian Orthodox Church of the House of Caiaphas on the summit of Mount Zion, next to the Dormition Abbey.
