Grand-Duchess Anastasia's Sapphire Necklace Tiara, The first thing to know is that this sapphire and diamond tiara was originally a necklace, which story started in 1879, when grand-duchess Anastasia Mikhailovna of Russia married grand-duke Friedrich Franz III of Mecklenburg-Schwerin. The necklace came into the Danish royal family when it was left to her elder daughter, Queen Alexandrine, spouse of King Christian X of Denmark.
