Vincent van Gogh - L’Allee des Alyscamps. Oil on canvas, 36 by 28 in. by cm. Painted on November

Vincent van Gogh would have walked this dirt path many times with his easel, canvases, and paints. He is known to have painted several canvases in these fields in Auvers-sur-Oise, France, having spent the final two-and-a-half months of his life here between May and July, 1890. He painted “Wheat Field with Crows” just ahead in the field to the left. Thatched Cottages of Cordeville and “Landscape at Auvers in the Rain” are among other works painted in the immediate vicinity.
