What effect does deforestation have on water quality? Find out with this DIY experiment.

Possible school experiment to show importance of wetlands/riparian zones! This shows the importance of plants in our soil. Plants like trees and grasses help purify ground water. Without them the ground water gets polluted and harder to clean and drink.

Soil Erosion Experiment This might look like such a simple experiment but it will definitely show the importance of having vegetation covering the soil to your kids! They will love this hands on experiment!

This is the grossest yet coolest experiment. I did this while teaching about germs and how they spread. You use three pieces of bread. To learn about the experiment go to: https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=834241633283689&set=a.602079413166580.1073741827.100000935797679&type=1

Germs experiment - use gloves for the first one, wash your hands for the second, pass the third around the whole class. Bag them all up and see what happens. Teaches importance of washing hands!

Science Saturday

Make science fun? Your school-age kids will enjoy making an edible DNA model, while learning about science!

Grass seeds in a cd case!

Plant Growth and Changes - Grass seeds and soil in a CD case. Great way to see the root system, and it sits up by itself! Art Projects for Kids

Place Indian Corn in approx 1 " of water and it will "grow"! You will need to change the water every couple of days because it will get cloudy...she said it only took about 5 days to notice a change

Here's a nice idea for an interactive water cycle wheel.

After teaching the components of the water cycle, students would create this interactive water cycle wheel to represent the process. Students could write descriptions of each step on the wheel as well.
