Model 1805 Flintlock Pistol- The first American military pistol made at a national armory was the Model 1805 flintlock pistol, manufactured at Harpers Ferry Armory from 1805 to 1808. With less than 4100 believed assembled, slightly more than 2,000 pairs would have resulted. It has been estimated that the majority of production for this model occurred in 1807, with 2,580 pistols being manufactured. Our example bears an 1807-dated lock plate.

A gilded flashpan is just part of the embellishments for this single-shot arm. In the past, this ornate .40 caliber handgun was part of the Martin Redding collection and was also featured in the Harold’s Club collection, which was sold in 1993.
