The 1950s: Doing it right. Man handing a mama polar bear a can of sweetened condensed milk while the cub gives him a hug. Eastern Russia, where the temperatures can drop so far that even polar bears are in danger of freezing or starving. The few inhabitants of the area at the time, even though they couldn't afford to give much, would feed the mother bears so that they could produce enough milk for their cubs.
