This is the bullet which killed Admiral Horatio Nelson at the Battle of Trafalgar, in 1805. Although Nelson died, the Royal Navy won the Battle, devastating the French and Spanish fleets. This canteen was donated by Elmer Boyer, a local man, who salvaged the wreckage of the Dunker Church when it collapsed in a windstorm in 1924, and preserved the materials until 1962 when it was reconstructed. Battle of Trafalgar medal awarded to a crew member of the "Fighting Temeraire" for his efforts at the Battle of Trafalgar (1805) has auctioned for $20,500 in the UK. The medal brought £13,500 ($20,558). It belonged to Thomas Durnell, who went on to serve at the Battle of Basque Roads in 1809 and during the Invasion of Java in 1811, as proved by the additional clasps. Aside from HMS Victory, HMS Temeraire was one of the most famous ships at the Battle of Trafalgar.
