USS Independence - [ An old friend. -  The writing on the pic says "heels to starboard". That's Navy talk for "leans to the right". It also skids when it turns causing the turbulence you can see as white froth and waves on the left side of the photo. In emergency maneuvering, the leaning and vibration can be a bit frightening, especially when there's also a collision alarm going. - PSC ] [PS - I didn't like the military life, but I loved the ship.]
