The ancient Olmec Civilization had far reaching effects on the other great civilizations of Mexico. Large head sculptures are found as far away as central Mexico. Some believe the Olmecs came from Africa.

The Olmec colossal heads are at least seventeen monumental stone representations of human heads sculpted from large basalt boulders. The heads date from at least before 900 BC and are a distinctive feature of the Olmec civilization of ancient Mesoamerica.[1] All portray mature men with fleshy cheeks, flat noses, and slightly crossed eyes; their physical characteristics correspond to a type that is still common among the inhabitants of Tabasco and Veracruz.

Para que los Olmecas pudieran realizar este tipo de actividades, además de estar bien organizados, debieron también estar bien alimentados, con excedentes de alimentos que permitieran a artesanos e ingenieros dedicarse exclusivamente a sus actividades como tallar la forma de las cabezas y moverlas largas distancias respectivamente.

Para que los Olmecas pudieran realizar este tipo de actividades, además de estar bien organizados, debieron también estar bien alimentados, con excedentes de alimentos que permitieran a artesanos e ingenieros dedicarse exclusivamente a sus actividades como tallar la forma de las cabezas y moverlas largas distancias respectivamente.
