Winter Wren (with the amusing Latin name troglodytes troglodytes) sometimes roosts communally when cold weather hits. Although unusual, roosting groups can be large; more than 30 wrens were found in one nest in Washington State, USA.

Hoopoe - nice to see these guys around in the garden every now and then (in Pretoria)

Hoopoe (upupu epops) - It's just fun to say! What an amazing bird. How did God think all these beautiful creatures up.

Long tailed Tit - They travel in groups but rarely come into the garden preferring to feed on buds and insects on trees...recently I've a few coming to feed on the feeders hanging in the yard :)

Raggiana Bird of Paradise

Raggiana Bird-of-paradise (Paradisaea raggiana) is so beautiful, with its fluffy feathers. Birds of paradise have evolved by sexual selection which is why the males are so beautiful.
