Africa | Mask "gelede" from the Yoruba people of Nigeria | Wood | "gelede" is a society exclusively for men. In the Southwest they used to send their masks to all the villages around in order to increase fertility and to repel harm. In some areas men begging for fertility of their women, are disguised like transvestites, wearing body masks of a pregnant woman together with the gelede helmet masks.

La dénomination " Gurunsi " a été employée à tort jusqu'à aujourd'hui pour désigner un ensemble d'ethnies distinctes qui vivent au Sud-ouest du plateau Mossi.  Comme les Mossi, ils sont originaires du Nord Ghana. Sous ce terme sont regroupés les Nuna (habitant au Sud-est du Mouhoun), Nunuma (qui occupent le Nord-ouest de la Volta Noire), Winiama, Léla, Sisala, Kaséna, Nankana, Kusasé.
