Johannes Vermeer. I love, love, love this painting. Look at her expression. How can someone capture in paint something that's such a "moment," and not a "pose"? Look at the walls. I love how a Vermeer is so lifelike that it seems almost a photo in which we can see what the daily life of ordinary people was like at that time.
