Mid century suit, silk/linen, Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY. This appears to be later than mid century. The curve of the coat and tall collar suggests a date in the would be more accurate.

I read early on that most men in the 18th century (wealthy men), had three staple suits. Black, great and brown (just like now), but that very few examples survive, as men wore them out.  This is one of the early examples I was able to find. LOVE it.
