St Matthias Kirche is a Catholic church built in a Gothic style in 1868 and further extended in 1895. It endured intense damage during World War II when the roof caved in on top of the altar destroying the organ and an exhibition on the church’s history. Inside, there are 45 stained glass windows, the most famous sits behind the altar and depicts Mary with baby Jesus and at the back of the church, and you can see the Mauer-Kreuz from Wilhelm Polders Kevelaer of Goldschmiedes.
