South American born artist Bruno Torfs lived in Europe, before purchasing a hectare of rainforest in Maryville, Australia. In 13 years, he created a menagerie of carved log gnomes, terracotta mermaids, jungle boys, horses, wombats & life like street children. In 2009, a bushfire destroyed his weatherboard studio w/200 paintings, & over 135 sculptures. He has since begun restoring the gardens, but faces large fiscal obstacles.
