The New Church(Nieuwe Kerk), Delft, Netherlands is late Gothic architecture with its pointed arch openings, buttresses, windows with tracery, the spire with crockets, etc. The New Church was built around the original wooden church in 1396. There are 356 steps to the top--I walked them all. The stairs become so narrow you cannot pass someone on the stairs. Reading "Girl With a Pearl Earring" at the time, I learned that Jan Vermeer is buried in the floor of the church, thus my pilgrimage.
