Drinking cup (kylix) with satyr fluting a column. Greek, Early Classical Period, about 475 B.C.Interior: A fantasy workshop: a balding satyr sits on a small bench. A wineskin hangs on wall behind him, hinting at the satyr's boozy nature. He is using a sharp, pick-like tool to flute a column. His easy technique would surely be ineffiecient in an actual building situation, but fits in well with the magical world of the satyr.
