1941. A view of the Jewish market at the Minervaplein in Amsterdam. During the German occupation of Amsterdam the occupier established special Jewish markets, like here at the Minervaplein. Jewish merchants and their Jewish customers were banned to special Jewish markets across the city of Amsterdam in an effort to isolate Jewish citizens from the rest of the population. The resistance movement in Amsterdam committed on January 1945 an attack on the Gewestelijk Arbeidsbureau to sabotage the registration of men forced to work in the German war industries. Six workers at the Gewestelijk Arbeidsbureau were killed and 3 wounded. As reprisal five prisoners were executed on January 8 and on January 18 eleven GAB-workers on the Amsteldijk at Rozenoord. #amsterdam…
