Welcome to the updated VintageRacer TETHER CAR GALLERY. I have been collecting TETHER CARS for over 40 years and, in order to keep the collection fresh, offer, from time-to-time, cars for sale.

Tether Cars were born in Southern California in the late 1930's. They are small gas powered model race cars[about 17"long], connected by a tether wire to a post in the ground. The tether wire is from 35 to 40 feet long. A single car will race around in a circle for speed. By the early 1940's cars were reaching speeds of 75 to 80 m.p.h. Now, in 2009, cars are traveling at speeds of over 212 m.p.h.
