This Pumpkin Math Activity set is a resource that is great to use in October. Students are probably already learning about fall as a season and beginning to think about Halloween, so it is a good time to talk about pumpkins. One thing that I do every year is to have a Pumpkin Activity Day. I like students to really get up close and personal with the pumpkins. I usually buy 4-5 pumpkins to have in the classroom for a few days and then we have a special day that we dedicate to working on Pumpkin Math. I usually have some parent helpers come in for part of the morning to help with carving the pumpkins and helping students complete the recording sheets (predictions, seed counting). I like doing this so that I can break my class into small groups, which allows for more hands-on time for everyone. We do the other practice pages throughout the day. Includes The set includes a double-sided prediction page, a counting mat, and 4 math practice pages. Student Engagement This packet is one of my favorite resources to use for student engagement and hands-on learning. Students learn about pumpkins and complete math activities in a fun and exciting way. This resource supports learning in the following areas: - Science (pumpkins, fall) - Math - Cooperative learning
