The Basenji is a breed of hunting dogs that was bred from stock originating in central Africa. They have a a tightly curled tail and a graceful neck. These dogs were domesticated dog of the Egyptians, other Nile Valley people including the rest of Africa. In the Tassili N'Ajjer, South Algeria rock drawing there seems to be a Basenj dog on an hunting expedition in the Sahara.
