Glow Sticks Eucomis: Eucomis, a member of the Asparagaceae family, is commonly known as Pineapple Flower, Pineapple Plant, or Pineapple Lily, all because of the beautiful form of its flower spikes. These spikes bear a striking resemblance to a pineapple, with football-shaped bodies packed with buds and a tuft of sword-shaped foliage at the top.

(Pineapple Lily) The bright and glowing foliage of 'Glow Sticks' Eucomis adds interest from spring thru fall with a vigorous clumping habit.

'Jack Frost' Brunnera was named 2012 plant of the year by the Perennial Plant Association. I just love this plant in addition to the beautiful foliage it blooms sprays of little blue flowers (perennial forget-me-not). Love it.

This rare botanical curiosity is Diphylleia grayi or the Skeleton Flower. It is a Japanese woodland perennial that is seldom seen. The petals are white until it rains. When it rains they become transparent!

This new Eucomis comosa hybrid was bred by the Dutch company, A. Langedijk. The rosettes of 2' long, strap-shaped, green leaves are topped, starting in early July, with 3' tall spikes of creamy white flowers highlighted by pink centers...worthy of its name. Although Eucomis 'Kilimanjaro' is often listed as a selection of Eucomis comosa, its height indicates a more probable hybrid of Eucomis comosa and Eucomis pallidiflora (pole-evansii).
