Isaac Lee Hayes, Jr. (Aug. 20, 1942 – Aug. 10, 2008) was an American songwriter, musician, singer, actor, & voice actor. Hayes was one of the creative influences behind the southern soul music label Stax Records, where he served both as an in-house songwriter and as a record producer during the mid-1960s. He acted in numerous blaxploitation films in the 1970s, and gained new popularity in the late 1990s as the voice of Chef on animated television series, South Park.
