1940 - 1st landplanes to be ferried across the Atlantic by air, are seven Lockheed Hudsons, flown from Gander in Newfoundland, Canada to Aldergrove in Northern Ireland by aircrew of the Atlantic Ferry Organisation (ATFERO). Militarised version of Lockheed Vega. Light bomber, Coastal Command Patrol Aircraft, Search & Rescue aircraft when fitted with dropable whaler; & sometime torpedo & anti shipping/submarine aircraft.
