"Ceaseless practice is essential until one attains without the least effort that natural and primal state of mind which is free from thought, in other words, until the 'I', 'my' and 'mine' are completely eradicated and destroyed.

Smashing! Michael Wolf's fascinating look at the crush on the Tokyo underground (via LensCulture)

November 2011 New Photography by Nini Baseema One of the most evocative contemporary photography series I have seen in a while is Michael Wolf’s Tokyo Compression. The German shoots people in the subway trains of the Japanese capital.

I really like this picture. The accidental grid formed by the sheets cause our eye to be drawn to the shape that doesn't belong, the ladies head. What I found interesting was how it appears to be floating because my eyes naturally interpreted her body to be apart of the sheets hanging around her. Additionally the balance created between herself and the white sheets in the corner leave the eyes caught between two abnormalities to an otherwise uniform grid.

- Colour photography - A photo that is very colourful and catches your attention/ uses color to create a mood. - The use of the blue in this picture gives off a sad feel because it is a cool colour.
