Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni (1475-1564), was a sculptor, painter, architect, poet, and engineer of the Italian Renaissance. His works are some of the most famous in existence and include the Statue of David and frescos of The Last Judgement and scenes from Genesis in the Sistine Chapel. He was known as "the divine one" during his lifetime and designated as the greatest living artist. He is still believed to be one of the greatest artist of all times.
