Meet Sabria, an elderly Syrian refugee who embodies tremendous courage and selfless love for her family. In her twilight years, Sabria left Syria for the first time to reunite with her children and their families in Germany. Her long journey to Europe was filled with traumatic events – she nearly lost her life while crossing the Mediterranean Sea on a leaking boat. Here is an interesting snapshot study (from Oxfam and ABAAD – Resource Centre for Gender Equality) we just came across on the changing gender roles among Syrian and Palestinian refugees from Syria currently staying in Lebanon.   Displaced by the conflict into an uncertain future, refugees are finding themselves having to take on new roles and responsibilities which are often at odds with their traditional gendered social roles...
