I wanted to grow a native garden outside my bedroom window and as we have predominantly sandy soil and a temperate climate it seemed crazy to keep mowing grass .I decided I needed to kill the grass and start from the beginning so I collected some cardboard boxes and laid them flat over the grass.I then weighed down the cardboard and left this for a few weeks allowing the grass to be starved of light.It soon died .Now I could begin the next part and that was to get some of my plants sown into punnets
