This is a notional monumental brass of medieval Scottish King Robert the Bruce (1274-1329). No brass or effigy of the king was made after his death in 1329. A Victorian era brass of King Robert was made by his followers in the 1800s and is over his grave at Dunfermline Abbey. Our brass is based on the equestrian statue of the Bruce made by Pilkington at Bannockburn battlefield. The king is depicted with the finest arms and armour of the time in a continental style brass.
