How to win at Monopoly from Big Ideas Little Pictures
How to Win at Monopoly
Perhaps this will come in handy over the holidays. A new sketch from my book Big Ideas Little Pictures for How to Win at Monopoly. Good luck! The Monopoly tips are drawn from gaming expert interviews by Joanna Fentozzi's article on Business Insider, "7 Monopoly hacks to ensure that you win every time"
The Olympic Flag and the meaning of the ring colours, interlocking of the rings representing the union of the 5 continents competing against each other. and the 6 colours in each of the National flags. And a little flag bearer showing how it's done.
The Olympic Flag
The five interlocking rings of the Olympic Flag represent the five parts of the world embracing "Olympism" and competing against each other: Africa, The Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania. The interlacing of the rings represents the unity and coming together of athletes from all parts of the world. The six colours of blue, dark yellow, black, green, red and white—the field on which the rings are set—"reproduce the colours of every country", and at least one is found on every national flag.

BASE jumping is an acronym for Building, Antenna (like a radio or communication tower), Span (such as a bridge), and Earth (a cliff or natural formation)—the four types of fixed objects people jump from
BASE Jumping - a dangerous acronym
BASE jumping is the hair-raising pastime of leaping off tall, fixed objects instead of out of planes, for example. It's a great name because it works as-is and is also an acronym—which I didn't realise for years. BASE stands for the types of fixed objects BASE jumpers might throw themselves off: Buildings, Antennas (like radio or communication towers), Spans (i.e. bridges), and Earth (like a cliff or natural formation). Just to be clear—I'm not recommending you try it out =)
Know your flying fabrics: what is parachuting, wing suiting, paragliding, hang gliding, kitesurfing, parasailing/parakiting — the difference between them
Know your flying fabrics
Know your flying fabrics What's the difference between parachutes, paragliders, hang gliders, kitesurfs, parasails or parakites and wingsuits? They're all fun ways to get around and all very easy to mix up with each other. You can find this sketch, lovingly polished, in the book Big Ideas Little Pictures. https://sketchplanations.com/big-ideas-little-pictures

a handwritten note describing the offside rules
The offside rule
In other news, I think the offside rule should be changed in football so that the goalkeeper doesn’t count when evaluating offside. Always seems stupid to me when the standard definition involves ‘the last defender’ but the technical definition is the 'second-to-last defender’ because the goalkeeper is usually one of those. Let’s just not count the goalkeeper and make the thing simpler.
