Karasu Relief The Neo-Hittite rock relief stands over the Karasu river valley, briefly before it joins to Euphrates. It was first reported by geologists Krummenacher and Wilson in 1956, while they were exploring the area. The relief is carved on a flattened rock surface in a niche. Oldest Paleolithic Rock Art in Siberia May Be More Ancient than Previously Believed
The Ukok plateau is located some 8,200 feet high in the Altai Mountains close to the modern-day Russian border with Mongolia, China and Kazakhstan. Expedition to the region have found evidence of intriguing petroglyphs, dating some 8,000 to 10,000 years old. If this is true, they could be the oldest petroglyphs discovered in Siberia by several millennia.
