“I went to Lake Achensee and did a walk around the lake. It was lovely to be amongst nature - walking wee paths and crossing little wooden bridges. The lake was so unbelievably blue, the kind of blue people think you only get in tropical places. We stopped at a cafe and had a lunch of traditional cheese and meat - it was SO yummy. Good walking fuel.” – Iona, Thomson Lakes & Mountains team.

It is said that Saint Wolfgang persuaded the Devil to help build, promising him the soul of the first living thing to enter the church. Satan was disappointed however - the first creature over the threshold was a wolf. Find your perfect Lakes & Mountains holiday at www.thomsonlakes.co.uk

“I first went to Mayrhofen on my own in 2012 and it’s such a beautiful, friendly place. I met some wonderful people who I still talk to today! I’ve been back twice since, introducing the lovely place to two other friends from home. We’re now planning to go back for Christmas!” – Ria, Thomson Lakes & Mountains Facebook community.
