Panorama Mesdag is a panorama by Hendrik Willem Mesdag. Housed in a purpose-built museum in The Hague, the panorama is a cylindrical painting more than 14 metres high and about 40 metres in diameter. Friedeltje and Gustaafje are sitting on the observation gallery on a high sand dune, behind them the beaches and village of Scheveningen in the late 19th century.
Friedeltje visited the The Hague Public Transport Museum (HOVM) this afternoon based in an old tram depot. The oldest tram dates from 1878! Some of the old trams still ride through the city during summer weekends. Friedeltje was allowed to pose in a beautiful tram built in 1929. Thanks HOVM!
Friedeltje visited the Art Museum Riga Bourse. He was very enthusiastic about the building and the collection. He descided to take a selfie in front of his favourite painting: Aleksandr Drevin, Armenia, landscape with a donkey, 1933
Friedeltje was guided through the National library of Latvia by a friendly librarian. He enjoyed the tour in this marvellous building called the Castle of Light which was designed by the Latvian-born architect Gunnar Birkerts. He was also fond of the library's restaurant.
Friedeltje visited Panorama Mesdag today. At present Panorama Mesdag is showing works by Hendrik Willem Mesdag and Sientje Mesdag-van Houten drawn from the international, private collections of the couple’s descendants. He especially liked Sientje's still lifes.
Today Friedeltje's friend Boris visited the exhibition about André Rieu's love for detail at the Museum aan het Vrijthof in Maastricht. One can see violinmakers at work (father & son Rijsemus) and one can learn how the dance Queen Viktoria's favourite dance : the waltz
