Shashka type sword / saber from Uzbekistan, typical Bukharan style. The slightly curved 28 inches long blade is quite heavy, ¼ inch at its base. The grips are of beautifully grained hard wood, in the general shape of a Pesh-Kabz dagger, also common in the central Asian countries. The hilt bolster and grip strap are silver. The wood scabbard is covered with black leather with steel tip and belt ring The scabbard mouth is brass The hilt / grip may be later to the blade and so is the brass locket.
