I Love Cornus kousa ‘Satomi’

Looking for a lovely small tree with pink flowers? Kousa dogwoods start off as an upright, vase shaped tree and later they mature into a more rounded, form with horizontal branching. ‘Satomi’ has pink flowers in early summer, red fruit in late-summer, and foliage that ranges from reddish-purple to purplish-green in the fall.

Looks more like a Japanese maple with lacy intense purple-black foliage but a whole lot easier grow. Massive lemon fragranced pink flowers in midsummer. Sun Garden, Garden Shrubs, Landscaping Plants, Dream Garden, Trees And Shrubs, Flowering Trees, Trees To Plant, Small Gardens, Outdoor Gardens

Trees for Tight Spaces - FineGardening

Small-space gardeners often encounter three basic problems: The space is jumbled and chaotic, there’s no room for variety, and the space doesn’t connect to the rest of the landscape. It is better to address as many of these issues early in the game rather than late in the design process.

When Richard Power designed the amalgamation of the city block of gardens and fallow land which would become the Halifax Public Gardens, he used more than 2000 trees from the nursery of the Nova Scotia Horticultural Society. He planted them not only within the Gardens, but…
