Fan: 17th century, with peepholes. "The French designed a fan with glass, or gauze-covered peepholes, such as this one, which allowed ladies to view a scandelous [sic] play. Similarly, other French fans concealed scenes and sayings in their folds so risque that a woman could declare 'a lady hardly knows whether to blush before or behind her fan!'" The author and the arms of Henry VIII    This manuscript contains works by Lucian of Samosata and Pandolfo Collenuccio. We know that the book was made as a gift for Henry VIII because it includes his arms in the lower border. It was a gift to Margaret of Anjou from John Talbot, 1st Earl of Shrewsbury. Margaret is shown with her husband Henry VI.
