Gabriel Monjane (born Gabriel Estêvão Monjane 1944 – 1990) is one of only 16 individuals in medical history to have reached 8 feet or more in height.  Born in Manjacaze, Mozambique, Gabriel Monjane's abnormal growth, attributed to an overactive pituitary gland, started soon after birth. By the time he was 17, Gabriel Monjane stood 7 feet 10 inches.

Billed as The Chinese Giant, he travelled the world, renowned for his intelligence and knowledge (he spoke six languages) as much as for his height. Chang Woo Gow finished his life the proprietor of a tea room and ‘Oriental Bazaar’ in Bournemouth, a resort on the south coast of England, where he was buried in 1893.
